In the present study two strains of Thiobacillus sp were isolated from aerobic sludge of distillery and dairy effluent treatment plant using standard methods of isolation and enrichment. Experiments were conducted using isolated cultures in batch bioreactor with initial sulfide concentration of 75 and 150 mg/l. The effect of initial sulfide concentration on the activity of isolated Thiobacillus sp was studied. Sulfide oxidizing capacity was also determined at different initial sulfide concentrations. In situ flushing groundwater remediation technologies, such as cosolvent flushing, rely on the stability of the interface between the resident and displacing fluids for efficient removal of contaminants. Contrasts in density and viscosity between the resident and displacing fluids can adversely affect the stability of the displacement front. Petroleum engineers have developed techniques to describe these types of processes; however, their findings do not necessarily translate directly to aquifer remediation. The purpose of this laboratory study was to investigate how density and viscosity contrasts affected cosolvent displacements in unconfined porous media characterized by the presence of a capillary fringe. Two-dimensional flow laboratory experiments, which were partially scaled to a cosolvent flushing field experiment, were conducted to determine potential implications of flow instabilities in homogeneous sand packs. Numerical simulations were also conducted to investigate the differential impact of fluid property contrasts in unconfined and confined systems. The results from these experiments and simulations indicated that the presence of a capillary fringe was an important factor in the displacement efficiency. Buoyant forces can act to carry a lighter-than-water cosolvent preferentially into the capillary fringe during displacement of the resident groundwater. During subsequent water flooding, buoyancy forces can act to effectively trap the cosolvent in the capillary fringe, contributing to the inefficient removal of cosolvent from the aquifer. 相似文献

天津地处海河流域最下游,紧靠渤海湾湾底,海河流域五大支流由此汇合入海,近岸海域水质长期处于劣四类状况,入海河流整体处于劣Ⅴ类水平,直排海污染源达标率较低。通过实施渤海综合治理攻坚战,2020年天津市近岸海域水质优良(一类、二类)面积比例达到70.4%,超过渤海综合治理攻坚战16%的目标值54.4个百分点,8条入海河流全部实现消劣,直排海污染源自2019年7月稳定达标排放。本文通过梳理陆域污染治理的关键性对策措施,从工业企业、城镇生活、农业农村等的污染治理以及直排海污染源和入海河流综合整治等方面,揭示近岸海域水质改善的质变过程,凝练“源头治理、通道管控”的治理经验,为巩固提升渤海综合治理攻坚战成效、深入打好重点海域综合治理攻坚战提供参考。 相似文献

基于固体推进剂的贮存老化,以NEPE推进剂和以HTPB推进剂为代表,综述了近年来固体推进剂老化进程中所受的各种影响因素、作用机制及化学反应机理研究进展。总结了温湿度、应力和环境气氛为代表的外部环境因素,配方性质、组分变化和添加剂等内部影响因素对推进剂老化及贮存失效期限的影响。分别从微观和宏观角度出发,分析了内外部各种影响因素加速或减缓固体推进剂老化进程的作用机制。此外,针对黏合剂、氧化剂、防老剂等化学组分,总结了固体推进剂贮存老化期间发生的氧化交联、分解、降解断链等主要化学反应,并分析了各个反应发生的机理及原因。最后,展望了未来固体推进剂老化影响因素研究的发展趋势,并为今后固体推进剂老化机理及失效模式研究提供了研究思路。 相似文献

Sugar industries require a large amount of water for processing, and also generate large amounts of high-degree polluted wastewater. To maintain the water balance in the industry, it is imperative that effective treatment methods need to be devised to treat the wastewaters. The main aim of the present work is to treat the sugar industry wastewater by combined thermal and electro-oxidation methods with a metal and a catalyst based on ferrous material. Results showed a reduction of 75.6% of COD and 79.2% of colour content with thermal treatment, and 97.8% of COD and 99.7% of colour with combined thermal and electrocoagulation treatments under optimum conditions. In 1987 India experienced one of the century's worst droughts with two-thirds of its sown area receiving 'scanty' or 'deficient' rainfall. Delayed rains in some parts, though to some extent they relieved the water scarcity, did not brighten the prospects of agricultural production. In order to assess the diet and nutritional situation of the vulnerable population in the severely affected areas, rapid surveys were undertaken by the National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad, in five States of the country, namely Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Orissa and Gujarat, during the months of October-December 1987. Results obtained during the current surveys are compared with the dietary situation observed in earlier droughts in the 1960s and 1970s, and it is concluded that the widespread hunger and its consequences encountered in earlier droughts could be averted, due mainly to the better food security and distribution mechanisms now available in the country. 相似文献
